Never mind; mystery solved, creepy shit not Jin's problem anymore, and maybe Kamenashi should see somebody about this, like Danny says they do in America, or just drink more like they do here.

"Yeah, the one wh—" Jin stops, and he's not sure why. Maybe he just doesn't want to quote Kamenashi on ruined lives. "The one he had. Once."' --Jin's so eloquent. ^_^ He didn't tell, even though he doesn't like Kame, showing he's a pretty respectable person right there. and regretting laughing at Kame's 'ruined' life. Jin's a good guy.
Kame's cracking. He can't hold up his shields very well anymore. He's let an important detail about his past slip to some whore that he 'doesn't' even like. He has absolutely no one to rely on, no one there for him, no one to confide in, other than the cat.^^ That's such an utterly horrible, miserable feeling. And he's now even afraid to visit his own one place of safety. I don't know how he manages to hold it together as well as he has honestly. "...maybe Kamenashi should see somebody about this, like Danny says they do in America, or just drink more like they do here." --both an amusing line and a serious one.
'Kamenashi' briefly changed to 'Kame' when Jin was reading about his scandal. I'm not sure if that was on purpose or just cuz Jin was reading about those who call him Kame but I still found it interesting. Jin probably felt less looked down on when reading about the ruin in Kame's past maybe? But Jin's more sympathetic to what happened to Kame than he wants to admit. He admits to himself that even his own bad break up wasn't as bad as Kame's, but even so he still thinks of Kame as a asshole. Not for too much longer hopefully. :/
Seriously wondering if Kame's going to have a breakdown. Seems like I was just wondering if Jin was the one who was going to have a nervous breakdown and now it's Kame. They're both so screwed up!

Yeah. It was never totally easy, but he managed to stay on top of it. (You know Kame, he can be very determined. >.<) And the club helped. But now that is... what it is, and, well. Poor guy.
And about the thing you spotted... you have a good eye. ;-)
Thank you for this comment, it was interesting and perceptive as usual!

Date: 2011-08-07 10:27 am (UTC)Ahh so that change in name was on purpose then? Jin is softening a bit then ^_^
Oh I forgot to mention this before but I wanted to say that I really enjoyed getting both their POVs in this chapter. Every week I'm always like 'ohmygosh poor Jin, but what was Kame thinking??' and the next 'ohmygosh Kame!! What on earth was running through Jin's head then??!! omg omg!'
>.< It gets frustrating.
eh... perceptive, obsessive akame leech... yeah that's the same ^_^

Date: 2011-08-04 10:05 am (UTC)I think he should let Jin "help" him more next time they meet (since I suspect they will meet soon again xD). He let Jin handle the situation back at the club and it didn't go all too bad for both.of them :)
I liked that you revealed more about their past in this chapter! I think it was good that Jin made an effort to understand Kame's secret, even if only out of curiosity. Never expected him to do that really :)) Also there's reveals about Jin's past too. So far we only had a very negative impression of both their past relationships. I was glad to know that there were happy times and that love actually happened there at some point.
Can't imagine how this will continue... I can't say I'll wait patiently for next Thursday bc patience sure isn't my forte ;)) But I'll come here and read the update, hopefully :)
Wish you both a good week!

Date: 2011-08-06 10:14 am (UTC)Glad you like the revelations. We guess it was about time! :-) Neither of them particularly likes to think about his past, so there had to be a good reason to bring all this stuff up first. Yeah, they were both madly in love for a bit and things were/seemed good. Just ended badly, in very different ways.
Have a good week too! Thank you for commenting. :-)

Date: 2011-08-04 12:11 pm (UTC)Woah, this was such a heavy information filled chapter.
Jin, when the chapter started, I was pretty certain he is not going to understand Kame at all. So I am so glad his curiosity got the better of him towards the middle and he did some much needed detective work on Kame. Though his heartbreak with Naoki was "lighter", a heartbreak is a heartbreak irregardless right? How can someone just break up over a note or an apology. The fact that Jin can even sympathize and understand now that there was a terrible reason why Kame can act out in that manner shows that he is quite compassionate. If only Kame hadn't screw up that badly from the start even if its not his fault. JIN, YOU ARE NICE! :) And its funny that he would read the HP series. lol
(And isn't it weird for Jin to go look up Souji when he resembles him alittle? Jin could have been someone Kame would have dated, how weird to find that out?)
And I agree with Jin, Kame should really go see someone about this. Its just not healthy.I wonder if he even gained closure from Souji. Did Kame get to talk to him during that whole ordeal?
Jin's heartbreak was an easier one to deal with while Kame's was a real bad case of backstabbing but even then I actually think that Jin and Kame should be able to relate well with one another provided they had gotten on the right start. They are both healing from breakups. Both feeling lonely...
And Kame go get some help before you start looking like a Panda. :(
Shall await next week. :D

That's a great point. We might argue it wasn't even 'lighter', just very different. Naoki didn't do anything as horribly wrong as what Souji did, but that doesn't change how it felt for Jin. (And it resulted in Jin losing their apartment, which was how he ended up on the street and later at the club, which is also not something he found/finds particularly enjoyable, so in that sense, Kame with his ruined life got off lucky. :-) You're totally right that they should be able to relate to each other... if only they can get over their issues with each other long enough. >.<
YES, JIN IS NICE. :-) And probably too compassionate for his own good.
This Kame definitely needs therapy. But it doesn't seem to be very common in Japan, plus of course if he got some, we'd have no story! ;-)
No, he didn't get to talk to Souji - he didn't want to, either. There's no closure there of any sort, really, he's just trying to ignore it all ever happened and hope it never happens again.

Date: 2011-08-04 04:20 pm (UTC)Kame's dream of the beach holiday was especially vivid and heart-rending, because in this story we so rarely see him relaxed and happy with his guards down. And to him it now counts as a nightmare. Everything is jumbled and jagged and you've successfully conveyed how he's caught in a vortex of memory.
It was a nice kind of break from the action, so to speak, so both of them could gather their thoughts (or in Kame's case lose their fucking mind). It's kind of astonishing to learn that Jin, as bad as he's had it, feels sympathy or pity for Kame because at least his boyfriend didn't betray him. I still want to know about Naoki and what state Jin was in while he had his boyfriend... whether he was already a whore or that happened later.
It's still hard for me to picture how this will tangibly change their next interaction, but at least from Jin's side I can see him softening towards Kame, or at least, not holding him in such contempt. Kame is still too raw to really know how to act towards *anyone* it seems, unless he's playing a character. So this means that no one, absolutely no one in his entire life knows everything that happened, or at least knows the truth of what happened. This might seem like a weird thing to ask but, do we get to hear about Kame's parents? I don't recall hearing about them and it would be interesting to hear what kind of relationship he had with them.. whether they knew anything *real* about their son.
*phew* rambling... ahhh, can't wait now that the ball's in motion!! Thank you for another breathtaking chapter.

Date: 2011-08-06 10:14 am (UTC)Yay! Our work here is done! :-)

You have a way with words...
As for Jin and Naoki, there'll be a bit more information later; but no, he definitely wasn't a whore when he first met Naoki. (Naoki was turning tricks occasionally to supplement his income and buy himself nice things, but Jin didn't initially know that. It was... an amazingly innocent beginning, really, given the story we're in.)
You're right, the best bet for Kame interacting with anybody right now is to sink into a character. If he can keep it together enough for him to do that...
Kame's parents - we mentioned them very briefly but again, they'll appear more later. Hang on a bit? (We can also tell you, but it will become clear later, we're pretty sure.)
Thank you for this lovely comment! :)

Date: 2011-08-04 07:28 pm (UTC)Sure, getting sold out to the public by his boyfriend is tough but isn't it worse to leave your boyfriend for fame in the first place? Or did I get something wrong?

Date: 2011-08-06 10:15 am (UTC)You didn't get anything wrong - that's exactly how it was portrayed in the news articles Jin found. :-) As for the complexities, well, they are... complex. *g*

Date: 2011-08-04 11:13 pm (UTC)So Jin is softening up a little (even if he doesn't really want to admit it yet), while Kame's having a complete meltdown. I guess Kame's not going to be able to resist Johnny's for long - even if he thinks he should - but i have no idea how their next interaction will go. Looking forward to it.
It was nice hearing a little more about both their backgrounds.

Yup. >.< Kame is doing his best to prevent it but we would not say he's being all that successful at the moment.
Glad you enjoyed the background stuff! We realise it was probably time some things got clearer, but they really do try not to think about their pasts too much.
Thank you for the feedback, that was lovely for us!

Date: 2011-08-06 10:15 am (UTC)A lot of things are on the forefront of Kame's mind right now that make it clearer why he... is the way he is, yeah. We're glad that worked. And yes, Jin is getting a better understanding too.
We understood you totally fine and we're really glad you chimed in! We hope you'll like next week too!

Date: 2011-08-09 06:25 pm (UTC)Ha ha, we find Yoko adorable too. Even Jin finds him slightly adorable, or would if their situation was different. And we had enormous fun writing him, so we're glad that he works for you. :-)

Date: 2011-08-11 12:01 pm (UTC)Today is Thursday already but I'd like to leave a few lines on this chapter as well.
First of all I like the style of shorter segments and getting to know what each of them is doing all week long in their respective point of view. Works great for variety in the story.
And again this chapter revealed a lot and there are changes visible.
Kame's world is crumbling and Jin starts to remember his past and at some point it's really hard to tell who's had it worse. But it's very interesting to see how different both handle their situations.
In Kame's case it looks like his world is only crumbling because he thinks it is and due to this he pressures himself more and more so in the end everything will really break down because he can't concentrate anymore and people will notice that. So instead of preventing, his behaviour of trying to be Mr Perfect just leads to bringing misery upon himself.
And compared to Jin Kame is still leading a rather safe life with a wife, a great job, nice home and enough money to buy the things he desires, sex included.
While Jin is the one without anything but never complains and despite the fact that his former boyfriend was the reason for his messed up life he still defends him and despite the fact of Kame being an asshole he's now starting to try to understand Kame's past and personality.
I suggest if Kame doesn't want to see a psychiatrist because that's not common in Japan he should ask Jin for advice but unfortunately Kame is still not over the 'mere whore' part. u_u
(is it inappropriate to say that sometimes he's really as slow as a turtle? *lol*)
On a lighter note I have to say that Yoko is such a precious character. XD He's so easy-going and open like a book it's hard not to find him adorable. And I think he and Jin is a good team. ^^
Okay that was my two cents and now off to read the next chapter. *__*
