Oh, how the tables have turned with Kame watching every movement and word and Jin being the calm, attentive, reassuring and smooth one. Regardless of his nerves and obvious discomfort, it was nice seeing Kame interacting with people a bit more normally, going out with Koki and socializing with Jaejoong (yum). It's also nice to hear that he has a bit of a break from work, but that's probably just me projecting my real life concerns about workaholic Kamenashi on this fictional version. :\

Thanks for mentioning new improved sane Kame Kame trying to interact normally with people. It was quite a relief to write too, even if he's still awkward and occasionally made us facepalm.

This chapter was everything I hoped it would be and I almost want to weep with happiness （；_・） -and why did my computer want to write herpes there?! WTF?! Well, I reckon one could also weep with herpes. Right. Moving on now.

Not that the secret sadist in me wasn't enjoying the story so far, mind you. But! They finally seem to be moving in the right direction -took a while, that!- and that's good, too. Definitely a welcome change. And they're so hesitantly cute here! Lovely, lovely. It all feels horribly awkward, but in a good way. Like they're not sure where everything is headed. And I guess they wouldn't be. It makes perfect sense, considering. But I still kind of want to pat them and give them a cookie. Maybe. For being such good boys, you know.

"Kame's not sure he follows. Jin— what? Why? How would Jin… really?"

And I'm hugely relieved someone finally shares my reaction to Jin!

And Jin! He's in such a dumb mood. It suits him, too, because he's kind of alluring like that, talking about cucumbers and squeezy machines with a straight face. He seems comfortable, happy, and he shines, and it's really no wonder Kame's already falling in love with him, -he is, alright?! This is fact!

And he looks so polished, so put together in this chapter. It surprised me, that, because it's almost a new look on him. We've seen flashes of it before but, yeah. And of course that could also be because he's standing next to Kame who's... not doing a very good job of it. But still!

"One of those… is it a… some chop chop, whirl whirl kind of thing?"

Articulate little thing, isn't he? (￣▽￣) It kind of suits him, too. And they just sat there drinking and talking and it felt almost friendly! And it was so amusing, the way Kame kept thinking about other escorts and not really being in the mood for it all, but then Jin shows up and actually offers and suddenly it doesn't seem like such a bad idea anymore! Tsk, tsk. Turtle-boy here is so whipped. No, really. Mark my words. *Insert evil cackling here.*

LOL! Jin likes to surprise people? ;-) okay, no, not really, only he can't help surprising himself sometimes either. Your reaction to Jin here and your description is really great and made us grin hugely.

Also true that Jin comes off like a zen intellectual giant standing next to Kame in this. Kame's brain has some empathy for the swirl-chopped oranges, really.

I think Kame is in love xD But he doesn't know. Yet. Well okay maybe he's not in love but he's totally getting there. At least it feels like that in the end when he goes home. :)) Crush is better? It's very subtle but it's there. How he keeps thinking how beautiful Jin is everytime he does simple gestures etc and how it makes him slow and confused :)) I feel embarassed every time he does too xD

I love Jin in this chapter *_____* How he is so sure and calm and nice and perceptive and..... I wanna cuddle him haha.

Yeah, going abroad would help in a lot of ways. (He's much more a 'keep a roof over my head' kind of guy. >.< *guilty authors*)

We're half way through!! I can hardly believe it. March seems so long ago and yet such a short time ago. I'm honestly going to be very sad once this fic ends... (this is a hint to you know, write more...)

"...his glance skitters away again over familiar glitter and the people in their fine clothes, mindless chatter, and then it all freezes around him because Jin is back, Jin is here now.
"The room narrows, moves in to almost nothing. Nothing but an endless second, Jin still and breathless."-- Even before I got to this line my brain was already picturing what this sentence describes; like those scenes in a movie or drama when the sound fades out and the camera suddenly zooms in on the main characters... yeah your writing played that perfectly in my head.

And the whole scene with Kame bowing... I could picture it so easily; a gesture like that is just... so sweet, so genuine, so humble, so... Kame.
"He can sit down, and Jin can know he'll just stay here and drink his orange juice and try not to be an asshole." Kame Kame Kame....

"He wants to apologize to Jin; he has to. But he also has to leave him alone, and for the first time he wonders, a little hysterically, if he should maybe have sent him a letter."

"Kame bites his lips on a nervous laugh. It won't do to laugh. "Yeah, you're… Yeah. Thank you." He manages to meet Jin's eyes again. "That's kind of more than… thanks. I was kind of. Well." As one is when one has been what Kame's been."

'"And all that stuff before. That I did to you. I was really, really out of line and… I'm so sorry." His voice almost hurts. It's not relief; it's just right. "I think I went kind of crazy."

Jin's mouth— that's a smile now. A reluctant one. "I thought you were kind of crazy, too."'

Kame's apologised and properly this time and Jin's not scared anymore and finally okay and Kame's okay and so relieved and orange juice and wanting to buy him something really really expensive and "Jin-san"!! It's just so, SO wonderful to see that; after Kame being such an unbelievable asshole, but it doesn't matter because he APOLOGISED and he MEANT IT. After EVERYTHING he did and all they had been through, it's going to be okay now simply because of a genuine "I'm sorry." What so many people would give to hear those words. Laying down his pride like that in admitting he was wrong and "a little crazy." Just...just gold.

"Jin, what about you, you afraid of anything?"

"I, uh." Jin fiddles with his glass and seems just as unprepared for the question as Kame was. "I don't know," he says vaguely, takes a little too long. "I don't like bugs much."' --I'll admit, I laughed at that, but it's okay because that just shows we're moving on from the painful past ne?

'"Then it's fine." Jin looks almost stubborn, and then he softens, shrugs. "Private is nice."

Nice.

"Okay," Kame says. Breathes. Resists the urge to mention cars or orange juice. "Okay."'

"He puts the key into the ignition, and the motor hums into action. Gently, because his car is nice and quiet. And has really good suspension."



This was so what I needed today. I had a crappy morning and then an even crappier afternoon and evening but I had this to look forward to all day and it really helped. I hope you both know your writing is appreciated and hope I'm getting a smile out of both of you while you're reading this. This is without a doubt my absolute favourite chapter so far.

Yeah, we're finding it hard to believe we're halfway through posting too. Seems like yesterday that we started... we can try we can try though sometimes we wonder if we've used up all the words in the world on the whores...

We were totally bouncy over your comment on the writing and things being vivid and 'movie-like'. It's hard to judge if something like that worked if you're the authors, so that's great to hear.

Kame is developing by leaps and bounds, isn't he? (It's really a relief to us as writers too that once he's gone as low as he could, he took a good hard look at himself and, well, decided to shape up.)

We also love the bits you pointed out that you liked; we've just come back from a full-day trip to Kyoto and our brains are feeling whirl-chopped, so please forgive us if we don't do your awesome comment justice. But this was great to read.

I TOTALLY understand the sluggishness. Japan does that to you, gives you so much excitement and happy feelings that when you have free time you just don't want to move. When I was there I had planned to write about what I did every day and that... yeah didn't happen...

There are always so many wonderful quotes I want to quote back to you but there's no need for you to re-read the chapters practically XD. There were just too many this chapter that needed to be pointed out though. Kame really has come a long way, and I cannot wait to see how their relationship evolves from here...

KYOTO! I miss Kyoto so much! Hope you went to all the great sights there! One place that I would recommend that isn't very well known is Iwatayama Monkey Park, in Arashiyama near Kamo river, with almost 200 wild monkeys that run around on top of the mountain. You're probably not staying near there but if you get the chance check it out :D

So glad I could cause bounciness to provoke wierd looks from kaishain on the train XD. I got some looks in a restaurant one time when KAT-TUN came on the radio and I got a little too excited. ('What's she blabbering about turtles? Stupid gaijin...')

LOL the image of you going hyper over KAT-TUN on the radio cracked us up! We walked past a big poster of Kame's Panasonic ad and squealed in the streets of Himeji, but we think people were too polite to react.

Thank you for the tip about the monkeys! We'd have loved to see that, we're sure -- no time to go back to Kyoto now, but we're definitely marking that down for next time. (You betcha there'll be a next time.)

Oh that Panasonic ad... I saw that CM a total of one time the whole time I was there, but you should have seen the look on my roommate's face when it came on and I... might have flipped out. The Run For You CM as well. And I saw his poster in the mall all the time... I don't think my heartbeat was ever regular when I was in that country.

Oh yeah definitely a next time I'll bet. I too can not wait to go back there. XDD.

I loved this chapter. I wonder what the club charges for just a hug - Kame could use one badly, poor insecure thing that he is. But it went well, thanks to Jin (I'm loving Jin these last few chapters - not that I didn't before, but it's so much nicer seeing him more sure of himself)

Kame & Jin's interactions are still awkward but it's a totally different type of awkward this time - if that makes sense (I'm so inarticulate sometimes).

Glad you liked Kame's hysterical musings. He's in a tricky situation, because he wants to do the right thing but he doesn't really know what the right thing, for Jin, actually *is*. Poor boy needs help. But thankfully Jin is there to give it. ;-) You're right, he's the one in control here.

This was a sweet chapter :D Kame is still the adorably necrotic and insecure and Jin is more confident and talkative. I love the change in the ambiance about them, the way their roles are slightly reversed.
So Kame finally apologized, even if it took Jin to approach Kame's table to do that, but with this new change about him he would have done it either way.
But it was funny how for a professional actor and general perfectionist he wasn't very articulate. Poor turtle.
But the bow was a tremendous step forward (not minding what people would think?!)good for him!

"Heights," he says. At least he knows about the blushing now. "I used to be afraid of heights."
"Oh, that's right, you got all cured in the circus!"
"Circus?" Jin asks quietly.
"I— got that drama part about the hospital owner's son who wants to be a famous trapeze artist."

Lol, this made me think of dream boys, with the trapeze training and canon Kame used to being afraid of heights XD

"Kame ignores Shota's cockroach-related squeals, watches Jin stare into his lap as shy as ever. He wonders if the bug thing is true and Jin was reluctant to give it away with Kame here, or if he needed time to make it up."

I wonder it we'll get to see them sharing their pasts with each other with all the horrible things they both went through.. especially Jin :(

"Jin is gracious enough not to laugh at him. He's biting his lip, thinking. Whatever fragile thoughts they are. Then looking up. "Whirl whirl, slurp slurp." And he grins, and tries to hide it.." --> This. I can see Jin doing this gesture with his face, it's so him. :)

Btw, I'm confused about the dates - in the previous chapter the date was Friday 14 November: "Kame isn't around; not for a week, then two, then more..He knows Kame is okay because he's constantly on TV."
Then here it's Friday 07 November (a week after their "date") and Kame is in club, after Jin saw him on TV.. What am I missing here?

This was a wonderful chapter! and The date will come next week at the scene of the crime of all places.. Can't wait! :D

What you were missing, in short, was that two authors who had arrived in Japan 36 hours before and were kind of jetlagged (and at the time of posting also *cough* rather tipsy on cheap sake) were likely to fuck up. :-)

Well observed, about the role reversal. And yeah, Kame would have found a way to apologize, only it was difficult for him to make up his mind which approach Jin would prefer.

The heights thing may just be totally stolen from canon. ;-) We're not telling about their pasts, that is kind of complicated, with some things easier to share than others. (And not always the bits you'd expect.)

We're very happy you could see Jin from canon in the way he was acting and speaking here! And thank you again for noticing our fuck-up with regard to the date! We like to get these things right. >.<

kame is so flustered for jin =)
after all that jin has gone through with kames bipolar-ness...he deserved a flustered kame!
koki was so cute...how he was worried about kame...and how he made small talk with jin.
i liked their awkward dialogue...i think it was perfect in showing how unsure they felt towards one another.
jin seems like the has gotten himself together....and maybe worked it out that kame may not be as crazy as he originally thought...but i guess it will all depend on how the next date pans out!
i cant wait for the next update...thank you!!

Yes! In a weird way it really helps Jin that Kame is unsure of himself now. Not that Jin knows what he's doing, either, but it's different when he can feel more in control for a change.

Glad you liked our Koki! He's quite an important character but so far he hasn't had much of a chance to shine. He's a good friend to Kame, and an all-round decent guy.

An awful lot will depend on the next date. They both know it. ***SUSPENSE***
