Date: 2011-10-12 08:24 pm (UTC)The glowing daggers surprised the three of them too. *g* Funny, sad and angsty is good, though we hope it was more fun than angst at all in all!! :-p
Thank you so much for this comment. This story was really important to us (and sometimes drove us nuts), so this is very much appreciated.

Date: 2011-10-10 02:18 am (UTC)While I love all three of them, I'm not really into the whole 'akamepi' thing, unless it's pure friendship, but this kind of treaded on the border there. Being on the verge of konking out myself I am SURE I missed some of your incredibly clever wit/inuendo in there somewhere, I got a little lost among all the pirate ships and daggers and whose belonged to who XD. I shall have to re-read this.
My favourite part was Kame and Pi fighting over Jin. It was just written so well and believable. It's so easy to picture Kame's vicious punches and Pi NOT BACKING DOWN and Jin shrieking all over the place. it was easy to see what they all must have been feeling.
Lovely story and I'm so happy to get something new from you two, not that I'm dissatified with Deep Water or anything. I'm just greedy.

Date: 2011-10-12 08:24 pm (UTC)We have a complicated relationship with Akamepi ourselves, so we found your comment very interesting. Maybe good they all wanted to take a breath and think/talk things over before starting any more serious experiments, huh? ;-)
But they're complicated enough that there's just bound to be have been *some* angst there -- they're all kind of possessive to some degree, so even on the friendship level, we just imagined quite a few ~issues~ when they were younger. We're glad you like the Kamepi conflict, too. It's a little ouchy to write, tbh, but, well. Complicated, possessive people.
Glad you read & enjoyed, despite not being so much into Akamepi! And thanks so much for telling us!

Date: 2011-10-10 12:33 pm (UTC)Anyway. We're not on that topic here.
I love the recurring theme with words, or not knowing what to say, and how this is very similar to Amigo - in structure and such - while at the same time having this completely different feel to it. It's no longer hardcore angst. Sure, there's worry here too, but I think it's more of a bittersweet feeling.
You wrote about the 2008 Queen of Pirates! I had almost forgotten about that. It was such a cute moment, with all the smiling going on and Pi looking vaguely panicked for a moment there - but smiling! I like your take on it. Seriously, you can't even begin to imagine how much reading about that made me grin like a lunatic.
And there's Pin being brats and not talking to each other. That was sad and somewhat lonesome, but on the other hand, really really cute. I could totally see that happening, too. Pin are brats, even now.
I love how you wrote the Kamepi fight, too. With Kame being vicious and completely out of it and Tomo feeling guilty and wretched but still refusing to stop. And of course, of course, Jin would be freaking out in the background. That was really-- I could almost sense Jin's despair, even though Tomo didn't say much. What little he said just felt like a punch to the gut.
I like when there's Shuuji and Kamenashi in Tomo's head; it's like he's finally seeing different sides of Kame and not hating them, and I've always wondered about Pi calling Kame that. And that brief moment with the forgotten line there - again! That's beyond cute. And there's Tomo being confused over the whole Kame-Jin deal, noticing stuff about Kame, hoping...
And fast forward to more well-chosen moments and that really awkward talk at the bar, with Tomo knowing how unhappy they all are, wanting to do or say something about it but again not knowing what or how. And forward yet again to friends being friends and drunk and Jin being honest, only for a moment there. And it's great how you wrote Pi catching on without actually, uh, writing it. I think that's actually what I love the most about your writing. The things that are there, only invisible, and those tiny glimpses of realisation that are just priceless.
And the ending... Well, let me tell you I kind of hated you for ending it there, but then I thought, 'where else?' I mean, it seems right somehow. Fitting. And that whole scene was adorable and just... coming up with a few code words and then everything getting out of hand. Because that happens with friends, sometimes you just end up speaking a whole new language with no idea how you got there. And, wait. What?! Pillow fight! And priceless Yamapi panicky moment... Gay rolling around, heck yeah!
And, "Yes, we're blushing in code."
Brilliant.
And I could say so much more, but I feel I've spammed you enough for today, so I'll leave it at that.
PS: That's such a cute amigo-ish title. (O.o)

Date: 2011-10-12 08:25 pm (UTC)Yes, this was the first Pi POV we've ever written. It was its own challenge, after sooooo many words and hours in the heads of Kame or Jin. And your description of how his voice comes across here couldn't please us more. (Really. We said down at one point and discussed how we thought Pi worked, and you could almost be quoting from that conversation.)
Basically, your whole comment is like that, and we totally don't know what to say. (HA HA HA PUN!) Everything! is so awesome! We were hoping for just that with regard to Amigo -- similar but different, both in structure and content.
The 2008 Queen of Pirates is very important -- that thing with the mic had Solo going to Jo, 'this kind of looks like a mating dance', and after that (the whole thing on the stage, not just the mating dance) we could see Akamepi working. (As opposed to Pin being a source of angst for Kame and Kamepi being a source of
sulkangst for Jin.)And the ending... Well, let me tell you I kind of hated you for ending it there, but then I thought, 'where else?'
Yeah, the ending... *g* Sorry for the tease, but they *really* needed to think things through before leaping, just for once. And because we like them to have Happy Lives, we are glad when they don't do something that potentially risky without first talking it through or thinking sober thoughts. They're being very Mature. For once. (And
JinKamePi will still be hot tomorrow.)That's such a cute amigo-ish title. (O.o)
HEE. Thank you. We admit it keeps cracking us up. *g*
Thank you so, so much for this wonderful comment. You probably have no idea how happy your observations, about the canon events and the conversations and the angst and EVERYTHING, made us. No idea at all!
PS: Tell us about your sources and how Pi gets jealous???
write us an email????we are most curious(no subject)

We have a very soft spot for Akamepi too, but also a lot of... complex issues, so this story was both tricky and important to us. We're glad you like our take on canon here and that both the Pin stuff and the Kamepi stuff came across right.
Though we have to wonder -- Amigo makes you warm and fuzzy?? perv. :-p
