I like your description of the landlady, she's nice. She definitely won't give Jin grief if he brings Kame over to his teeny-tiny, five steps apartment.:)
Ootomo's "not everybody's a Takizawa" phrase was just...hmm...but Kame and Jin's relationship would be just like that in the end, right?

I love how you portrayed Jin and Kame's first night as boyfriends, well not really first night but you get what I mean. The awkwardness was just..gah! Jin just came from his work at the club. Having.Sex.With.Other.Guys.For.Money. Kame must be a saint if he could put up with this for a lot longer than a week.:)))
And the cat!!! It almost gave me a heart attack! I thought it was the paparazzi! The cat better behave though and stop biting anyone who feeds it, starting with Kame.. Or else Jinjin will be serving a stirfry surprise!!:D

Date: 2012-02-23 08:42 pm (UTC)But I do not think anyone has written this – and I'm still not sure if you'll take it is as a compliment, but it is a compliment in my book, and I really hope you think of it as one – I'm so in love with your characters in this story that I do not care if they are Kame and Jin anymore.
What I mean is – when one reads an Akame story, however AU, one tends to look for little tell-tale characterization devices that could reassure one that they are Kame and Jin, but with your story – though I started it because it was an Akame story, by now I am so involved with Kame and Jin that you write, I do not care if they do resemble the RL ones, actually merely acknowledge them as references, as say – actors playing the part? - for the sake of imagining how they look? Just as with some dramas *coughYNBcough*, that one stars to watch for a beloved actor, but ends up caring for the character irregardless. That's how good you write!
And about the current chapter – I adore the normal-ness of it, the... kind of – life coming gradually back to even ground? - feel. Even if it is not so normal grounds yet – what with Jin still working where he is working, and Kame being partially robbed of his normal life – poor thing, he really was so excited about the assassin movie... but I guess it's a matter of priorities, right? He knew what he stood to loose, and he chose Jin anyway. And well, the normality is what they try to grasp for, anyway, and it's so sweet...

We did of course hope to make our two guys still recognizably versions of Jin and Kame. But we also knew from the start that we were giving them such different backgrounds from the originals that they really had to function as their 'own' characters, too. What you're saying sounds like that worked, and we're very pleased indeed. :)
And oh boy, doesn't Kame ALWAYS manage that in his parts, that at some point you totally forget it's him, and just see the character he plays? We think that's a sign that he's a really good actor. And yeah, Bemu. We love Bemu. #sosweet
Everybody is sad about the assassin movie... but like you say, he made a choice, and it got him Jin! And it would have been kind of weird if after all that paranoia, the only fallout is that he can't model suits for a bit. :/

Oh, do not worry, they are recognizable as themselves, but it's more like - the core of themselves, something that they either were born with, or smth that was formed really early in childhood, and wouldn't really change with any adverse background (or so I believe). The AU fanfics I've seen in this fandom range from those that make them almost unrecognizable despite the names to those that are full of RL trivia/canon assumptions, but what I like really about your fics that you are more subtle than the latter, yet still preserve this core character of them both that the former lacks. (Especially - like seriously like how they are both undeniably male, girly/Kame (and/or to a lesser degree Jin) kills the fic for me - instantly)
That's why I told it's a lot like these are roles that Jin and Kame play - because I'm a firm believer in that the actor always introduces something of himself into a role he plays, however he dissolves into his role eventually. If Bem wasn't played by Kame (same script, same director, same everything) he wouldn't be the same Bem. (Btw I just found Mr. Hayashi - can't even explain how I could miss that one, considering how I adore Bem-verse fics - will comment on it maybe tomorrow though - work presseth, lol)

Yeah, absolutely true (actually even so the overall reaction after Kame's confession - seems moderately mild, but maybe it's because we only had it mostly through Jin's POV (and probably filtered by Kame before that). Still I hope you do not plan to torture them some more in the few remaining chapters (no, I actually do not - hope, that is).

I'm like, really, really upset that Kame didn't get the assassin part... He was so happy about getting it, and he would be great at it. Like, really really great.
So many warm fuzzy feelings at the end, despite the cloud of Jin's job hovering persistently over their bed. But they're making it work, for now anyway.
"I really don't need anything else," Kame says without even hesitating, or wondering what Jin means. "I just want to be with you. Close to you. It's perfect."
I can just hear how much Kame means this. It's so sweet and obvious how much he cares for Jin.
I have no idea what is going to happen next, which is one of the things about this fic that I absolutely love.
I can't wait to see the reaction of all the other escorts to Jin's new boyfriend! hehehehe....

Kame seemed nice when Pi first met him, and though he has very strong opinions about a guy who basically exploited Jin, the situation is changing from day to day now and he just basically wants Jin to be cautious, and he doesn't want to fall out with him over this so he can be around to keep an eye on him and Kamenashi. :) And if this should really be a good thing for Jin, then he's prepared to be happy for him, but the jury is still kind of out. (It does help that Kame filed for divorce -- while that's not enough to make Pi trust him instantly, it is a sign against Jin being Kame's dirty little thing on the side.)
See! You were right. Takizawa made an appearance very quickly. And Jin would still be soooo annoyed. he tries to look less romantic than he really is, cute little panda :)
As for boyfriends/girlfriends among the whores: Ohno is with Nino (who is a waiter in the associated restaurant). And Ohkura has a girlfriend. Those are the two we've mentioned; we also thought Danny was seeing someone, but that never came up. Tegomass might be occasional fuckbuddies, who knows. :p
He would have been great in the assassin part, yes. Unfortunately, last time we looked that didn't stand in the way of institutionalised homophobia. :(
Next... well, we still have tigers and buses to get through. And only six chapters left to do it in...

Brave Jin is brave again. OMG I so had to laugh at Ootomo’s “Right. It’s you.” comment, lol. Jin never fails to surprise him, haha. He shouldn’t be so harsh with Kame, though. But well, he loses money, too so it’s normal he’s not pleased with this. Don’t think he’s a bad guy all over, though. He’s not one of my favorite characters here but still no bad guy. It could be worse for Jin, I guess.
Things feel a bit awkward between Jin and Kame. But at least they’re touching and kissing again. Yay! It’s cute actually how they try to figure out how their relationship should work and sometimes act like they’ve never had anything more than conversations and cuddling before.
