Kamenashi looks good, well-dressed and clean-shaven, 'desirable client' written all over him if it wasn't for the steel-string hardness in his eyes. He motions for Jin to step up into the living area, and says, "I apologize if I frightened you," meticulously polite.

"Not at all." When I read that, I was silently applauding him. But it's probably only going to make Kame want to do it again...
Jin's tension, his anxiety and fear, trying to keep from panicking; it was all written so well and convincingly, and though it's a bed scene, it had a massive amount of suspense. With every chapter, and especially this one, I find myself rooting more and more and for Jin. He's really growing on me. By the time you tell us about what happened in the streets, it's probably going to be heart-breaking. ^^;;
I'm really looking forward to Kame's POV now. During the whole scene, I was wondering what he was thinking, what this means to him. How he saw Jin, and what he's planning now. Hm, I guess I'll find out next Thursday. ;)

Thank you very much for this comment. The suspense and how Jin came across were really our main aims; he was not having a good day, poor boy. :-/

(And we're happy you're starting to root for Jin more. You'll probably have more fun with the story if you feel some sympathy for both of them. :-)

Dear Solo and Jo,

This chapter nearly gave me a heart attack. In the office no less. I had to pace myself in reading, stopping once in a while to breath. I felt Jin's anxiety and the tension surrounding them both. Took me 2 hours but I made it!

I am really curious about Kame...I could potentially think up of many ideas of why Jin is the way he is and its easier to understand Jin at this point but Kame is alittle difficult to understand.. Well its only chapter 4 so I shall wait to find out more...^^

Gah, okay, I don't know where to start.

Normally I'm not much for AU stories, especially extreme AU stories like this one, but I gave it a shot. It's well written. Very well written, and that is becoming rarer and rarer in Akame nowadays. Secondly, it's completed apparently, which is even more rare in all fanfiction nowadays.

This is like reading a novel, except way more frustrating, because a novel you can KEEP GOING and well with this.. yeah. any way you'd maybe consider posting twice a week...? you do have 54 chapters to get through after all... XD.

anyway this was lovely. 'poor Jin' was my main thought throughout this chapter. i am really wondering what has happened to the poor guy in the past. and Kame as well, something tells me his past has a lot to do with the story too.

Thank you for this lovely praise! We're really glad that you gave this a try despite your dislike for extreme AU -- we also like AU only if it's well written so, um, we liked hearing this. :-)

We wouldn't have started posting if it weren't complete at least in draft -- we, too, know WIPs that trail off in the last third and stuff, and it's very very frustrating. Completing first draft and then starting to post while we polish the later chapters seemed like a reasonable compromise between, well, finally sharing some of this, and not ending up disappointing people -- at least not with posting issues, no guarantees on the rest. *g*

As for posting more often, we do still have some editing to do (we were making final edits on this last chapter the day before we posted. Obsessive perfectionist freaks 'r' us!), and we think it is fairer on our readers if we are reliable and steady instead of speeding up at the start and then starting to panic towards the end and post irregularly, whenever we find the time etc, you know?

'Poor Jin' is kind of our main thought too... But you're right, Kame's past plays into this just as much, it's just more... complicated. :-)

oh gosh, I lost my appetite while reading this. Don't worry, I mean it good!^^ You just made me so tense and described Jin's fears so good, I could feel it.

You really have to give me a piece of Kame's mind to make me feel sympathy for him.
Not seeing Jin's suppressed panic or worse, getting off of it gives me a hard time to like him atm.
Curious what his issues are and yeah, I really want to know if he cares at all about what he's doing.

Good job, I felt almost as tense as you described Jin the whole chapter. ;P

Yayy update! Ooof, the tension built up in this chapter, and poor Jin's paranoia. They watch each other like caged animals and I'm not sure yet which one is more dangerous. For Kamenashi, yes, this is about control but it also seems to be about pushing the boundaries he has set for himself. I'm sensing we'll read a lot of anger and self-doubt in the next chapter. Or I could be miles off. Kame's so creepily methodical in the way he psychologically tortures Jin. And he seems to be aware of it too. Scary. I love that because of each chapter alternating point of view, the other person becomes somewhat opaque and mysterious. Thank you for another riveting chapter!

read this yesterday...but then internet started acting up when i was trying to comment on LJ..so here i am today!
you have no idea how hooked i am with this fic!!..there are only a handful of updates i look for and this one is probably tied for #1!!!...thats how much youve got me at the edge of my seat!
every chapter....there is just enough revealed to get us through it...but not enough to know what is even in store for the next update!...and im loving it!..im scared for 50 more chapters though....cuz i cant even imagine what you guys will have in store for the 2 of them.
jins life as a pro...and kame's not so glamorous married life and his career...there are just still so much to open up...thank you guys for the udpate....im totally looking forward to the next!!

You can't believe how fast my heart kept beating through this chapter... It's just. KAME'S SO FREAKING CREEPY okay he's not but DURING JIN'S POV HE IS, for some reason my brain decided to make me feel everything Jin feels. You know the feeling when you're reading something and you kind of become one of the characters? That. It just... happened. Really strongly.

I'm late commenting because I was at Lollapalooza all weekend!!! :D
But this was the second best thing of the week *_*
I think I love Ueda here, specially because he kind of stands up for Kame (and he wears eyeliner, which cannot be bad in ANY universe).
And the encounter between Jin and Kame was so... tense. I had truble breathing through the whole thing, cause Jin's terror was so well described and *tangible*.
I am beggining to love suffering if its because of you XD... it would be worrisome if this fic wasn't SO gooooood!
Also... I'm developing a STRANGE habit of reading these updates on the oddest places... this one I started reading at my office... and ended in a theater, waiting for the band "The Killers" to start performing XD Got some REALLY strange looks too... (latest answer EVER to your question on the last comment I made: yes, hehe, the phone I bought for reading this is nice, was very well spent money and it serves its purpose beautifully *u* -and her name is Mika @_@.)

Yes, that would be an accurate summary. We agree on the potential scary factor of real!Kame glaring. We sometimes, um, find it quite appealing, and in fact, it was one of the things that convinced us that this storyline could work. But then we feel guilty because he can also be so cuuuuute. Poor Kame!

And yeah, he wasn't all ruthless here; just that Jin wasn't in a position to really appreciate that. Poor Jin. *g*
